Clermont Florida Real Estate

Founded in 1884 and incorporated in 1916, Clermont, Florida known as the "Gem of the Hills", is located in the central art of the state just 25 miles west of Orlando in Lake County. Clermont's rolling hills, once covered with Citrus Groves, are unique to Central Florida.

The city of Clermont lies along the shore of an 11-lake chain. These beautiful lakes range in size up to 3,634 acres and attract boaters, water-skiers and wakeboarders from all over. Lake Minneola, at over 1,880 acres, is at the center of the chain. Anglers will be delighted with the array of fish that can be found in these freshwater lakes including, bass, bluegill, shellcracker, perch, and channel catfish.

Clermont is home to Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards which opened its doors in February 1989. After seventeen years of phenomenal growth, Lakeridge ranks as Florida's largest premium winery, and remains a pioneer in the development of table and sparkling wines from hybrid grapes. People can visit the vinery, enjoy the extensive sampling room, and explore the gift shop.

Residents and Visitors and Clermont can also enjoy, golfing, roller-blading or bicycling on the Lake Minneola ScenicTrail/ Clermont Trail or a trip to the Citrus Tower Museum, a 226-foot tall tower with an observation deck that provides a panorama view of the surrounding lakes and rolling hills.

Development has definitely prospered in the city, notably the vast amount of new subdivisions and homes. Clermont has also surged in economic growth, attracting big box retail names like Wal-Mart, Target, and Kohls as well as many restaurant chains and smaller establishments.
